This study gathers data about the impact of social services on the economic and employment aspects of local development in different models of Welfare system: continental (Germany and Bulgaria), Mediterranean (Spain) and Central-Easter European model (Bulgaria). The research concludes that social services have a real impact on the local development, by being users of financial funds, boosting the local market selling their own products and increasing the employment rates. Finally, the study includes recommendations to improve the recognition of the social services in the local development at national, regional and European level.
